This policy explains what happens to information when you use PDFHarbour. It is written in plain language on purpose.
Your files
The tools on this site process your PDFs and pictures inside your own web browser. Files you add are not uploaded to our server and we do not keep copies. When you close or reload the page they are gone. When you start a tool from the home page, your files wait briefly in your own browser storage and are deleted as soon as the tool page opens them.
What we collect
Our web server records basic technical details of each visit in its logs, such as the page requested, the time, and the visitor's IP address and browser type. We use this to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
To apply the daily free limit we set an anonymous cookie that holds a random number, and we count runs against it. We also count runs per network using a scrambled form of the IP address, not the address itself. These counts are deleted after the day ends. We do not know who you are from them.
Payments and accounts
There is no sign-up. If you buy Pro, payment is handled by Stripe and we never see your card number. We keep your email address, a licence key, and the status of your subscription so that we can switch Pro on and off. A cookie in your browser holds the licence key so that Pro stays on.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form we store your message, your email address and the name you give, so that we can reply.
Advertising and cookies
Free visitors see advertising supplied by Google AdSense and possibly other partners. These partners may use cookies or similar technology to show ads, to measure them, and, where the law allows, to personalise them based on your visits to this and other sites. They cannot read the files you process with the tools. Pro members do not see ads.
You can manage Google's ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent to cookies for advertising before they are used.
Third-party code
The PDF and HEIC tools use open-source libraries that are served from this site. If the HEIC decoder is unavailable here, your browser may fetch it from a public software delivery network, which would see your IP address as with any download.
Children
This site is a general audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although the free daily limit and Pro will then stop working as intended. If you have a privacy question or want a message or licence record deleted, write to [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
