How to use it

  1. Drop your pictures onto the sheet, or click it to choose files. You can add many at once.
  2. Pick how to compress. "Choose a quality" uses the same setting for every picture. "Reach a file size" keeps going until each picture fits the number of KB you enter.
  3. Check the results list. Each row shows the old and new size. Download files one by one, or all together as a ZIP.

Good to know

  • Photos shrink the most. Screenshots with sharp text can turn fuzzy as JPG, so try WebP for those.
  • Phone photos are often 4000 pixels wide. If they only need to be seen on a screen, set the longest side to 1600 pixels and the file gets much smaller.
  • Each re-save loses a little detail. Keep your original and compress from that.
  • Pictures with see-through areas get a white background when saved as JPG. WebP keeps the transparency.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The work happens inside your browser, on your own device, so your files never reach our server. The page does load ads from third parties, but they cannot see your files.

Why did my file get bigger?

A picture that was already compressed hard can grow when it is saved again at a higher quality. Lower the quality setting, or keep the original.

JPG or WebP?

JPG opens everywhere. WebP is usually smaller at a similar look and every current browser can open it, but some older programs and upload forms still reject it. When in doubt, choose JPG.
