How to use it
- Drop a photo. Faces and high-contrast pictures work well.
- Set the width and thickness. Thin areas let more light through and look bright. Thick areas look dark.
- Press "Create STL file", download it, and slice it as usual.
Good to know
- Light, plain filament such as white PLA works best. Many makers use a layer height around 0.1 mm and 100% infill.
- A thinnest part of 0.8 mm is four layers at 0.2 mm. Going much thinner can leave gaps.
- You need a light behind the panel: an LED strip, a small lamp or a lightbox.
- Look at the textured side to see the picture the right way round. Tick "Mirror the picture" if you plan to view the flat side.
- Raise the contrast for flat, dull photos.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens inside your browser, on your own device, so your files never reach our server. The page does load ads from third parties, but they cannot see your files.
What file do I get?
A binary STL, which slicers such as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer can open.
Why is the file so big?
The surface is built from small triangles. A 100 mm panel at 0.3 mm detail has about a million. Choose Draft for a smaller file.
Can it make curved or lamp lithophanes?
Not yet. It makes flat panels with an optional frame.
